Stories have the ability to be created, revised, retold, forgotten, and revived. Stories cross the boundaries of time and place; offering perspectives that are both timely and timeless. Stories offer us experiences, choices, and outcomes to safely reflect on, learn and heal from. Stories let us see through others’ eyes and learn from their experience.
An audio-visual storytelling project developed with Viviane Borari.
Viviane is a cultural producer, director, photographer,musician. Active in socio-environmental and cultural projects. She is creator of Apoena Audiovisual and a member of the collective of Indigenous women As Karuana who work through socio-cultural actions and environmental protection of rivers, forests and Indigenous rights.
The project will tell the stories of the Pajes (Shamans) of the lower Tapajos, telling stories of the Indigenous resistance, the spirits of the forest and bridge ancestral and contemporary realities.

She is the all powerful guardian of all living beings in the forest. And while she is generous and benevolent in her gift… Beware! if you disrespect her home. Her punishments are weird and merciless!
Her warnings are more relevant than ever in a contemporary reality where the forces of agri-business, logging and mining are decimating the forest faster than we can protect it. Her story reminds us that it is time to listen, respect and rekindle a more balanced relation to nature if we wish to protect our common home.

The Letter tells the story of the Laudato Si’ encyclical letter by Pope Francis, through the eyes from frontline leaders battling the ecological crisis across continents. Cacique Dada was chosen as the representative of the Indigenous and travelled to the Vatican to meet the Pope and speak about the protection of the Amazon.
