Katukina in Acre, Brazili\u00eb. Daar, in het hart van de Amazone, hebben zij iets krachtigs gecre\u00eberd: de Atlas da Terra Ind\u00edgena Campinas Katukina.\u00a0<em>Atlas da Terra Ind\u00edgena Campinas Katukina<\/em>. Het lijkt op een kaartenboek, maar het is veel meer dan dat. Het is een stem, een herinnering en een hulpmiddel om te beschermen wat het belangrijkst is: hun thuis, hun cultuur en hun toekomst.<\/p><p>The\u00a0<strong>Atlas<\/strong>\u00a0is een door de gemeenschap samengesteld document dat inheemse wetenschap, herinnering en ruimtelijke kennis samenbrengt. Hierop staan ecologische zones, heilige plaatsen, jachtgebieden, gebieden voor medicinale planten en waterwegen. Door gezamenlijke landkaarten en verhalen combineert de Atlas voorouderlijke kennis met moderne instrumenten voor zelfbeschikking en\u00a0<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">territoriale bescherming. Door milieubedreigingen \u2013 zoals illegale houtkap, wegenbouw en verlies aan biodiversiteit \u2013 te benadrukken, versterkt de Atlas het vermogen van de gemeenschap om op te komen voor hun eigen belangen en zichzelf te beschermen. In die zin fungeert de Atlas als een basis monitoringinitiatief, vergelijkbaar met Forest Guardian-projecten in andere regio's van de Amazone. Leden van de gemeenschap identificeren en rapporteren veranderingen in het landschap, waardoor verdere ecologische schade wordt Dit gebeurde onder leiding van Chief Dad\u00e1 Borar\u00ed, Chief Rosi, Head of Technology Wellington en Tim Boekhout van Solinge, Head of Forest Crime Prevention.<\/p><p>Gedurende 5 dagen kwamen de gemeenschappen bijeen om strategie\u00ebn, veilige confrontatietechnieken, de-escalatie en het gebruik van technologie te bespreken. De nieuwgevormde Forest Guardians kregen GPS-camera's, apparatuur en uniformen om hun activiteiten te formaliseren. Het evenement was een groot succes, met een enorme opkomst. De 9 aanwezige gemeenschappen hebben zich allemaal gecommitteerd om samen te werken om hun land te verdedigen. Wij blijven ons inzetten om hen te ondersteunen bij dit belangrijke
